I'm doing the same thing. One of the nice things is that you get different routes for getting to work and for getting back, for different hours of the day, school holidays etc., so it becomes interesting, not taking the same boring route every day. And, as you say, you should always, now and then, preserve the ability to improvize and try new routes. Good! I’m doing the same thing.
